Big Dance, Beth Greenhalgh

LIVE ART AND MUSIC FESTIVAL PERMANENT GALLERY

SATURDAY 17TH OF MAY FROM 6PM

SUNDAY 18TH OF MAY FROM 2PM

Permanent Gallery invited 15 artists and musicians to make a performance at the next Testing Grounds event.
Testing Grounds is a quarterly programme of Live Art, Performance Art, Sound art and Music and will run this time over two days, the Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of May. Testing Grounds has two main focuses. The event provides a platform for the artists to experiment with new ideas and projects, focusing on the contextualization of their work and to take a risk, reaching for that idea that is currently just on the edge of their horizon, rather than reproducing a set performance. The event also provides the audience with a wide variety of works by presenting an eclectic programme, and to alternate genres/disciplines, as well as embodying diverse artistic attitudes and approaches.

ARTISTS : Beth Greenhalgh, Samuel Hasler, Seth Kriebel, Birdengine, Ricky Leach, Taylan Halici, Alex Coxall, Pablo Perezzarate, Zoe Bouras, Adam Fearon, Sara Popova, Michail Mavaronas, Salma Nathoo, Rufus Osborne, Fry-

Orion + Thomas : Sound project

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Here is a quick description of our performance. ( mail send to Pablo )

“Inside active Spheres”

This performance is about music and the listener. How music directs our mind and how, at a certain point, the listener desires to take control the narrative of the music.
The action we are proposing is a interactive sound performance. Orion and I are using large balls that we bounce on sensors. By bouncing balls on those sensors we are trying to follow the sound provided by the computer. Every time we are late or early, different parameters will change. Mainly tempo, pitch, sound color.
In this Sound Performance Orion and I are experimenting the relation between movement, sound and time. We are also exploring the desire to be spectator and actor, know as “spectactor”.

We would like to leave the installation for the public to try after the performance, perhaps some time could be allowed for this at the end? We will provide all the equipment we need ourselves, so no need to worry about that. Sensors will be placed on the floor, these will need an area of about 5m x 5m.

?

Everyone,

Here are the questions that were posted out by Orion a few weeks ago, we had some general discussion about this during the 06/03/07 meeting. Please add comments ideas questions etc.

Although the most important thing is to get together and try, afresh, to make new work, there are still some decisions and administrative work that needs to be made. As we said, its important that we discuss these things on-line rather than using up working time during meetings. (more…)
