A PROJECTION OF VIDEOS SELECTED ON YOUTUBE
Hosted by Phoenix Arts
Saturday 13 October 2007, 3pm to 4pm and repeated Sunday 14 October 1pm - 2pm

WHAT
Videos from YouTube will be screened in the format of a video art presentation. protoPLAY has approached YouTube as a gigantic reservoir for images and information, and the selection process as a linguistic act. Each video forms a sentence fragment, which has a meaning on its own, but also interestingly that belongs to a chain of signifier and signified, to eventually create a new entity. A manifestation of our global community’s unconscious thoughts?

Orion Maxted latest:
International performance festival organised by Ornicart, Marseille.
The Workstation, 3rd to 28th of august 2007
Private view – featuring performance by artist Toomas Kuusing- 7PM
Co-curated by Jamie Wyld and Nadege Derderian

Toomas Kuusing’s paintings are recollections of performances. Instances, “drawing fundamental elements from the transient“, the paintings are for the most related and depict the collective performance work by artist group Non Grata, the imagination of the painter forming a kind of post-production on the video documentation work- which is also shown as part of this exhibition.

Anna Chocola and Thomas Michalak are performing at Sloveniarof, an Experimental Funfair organised in Slovenia. Dressed as butchers, they will challenge their audience to eat as much meat as they want, or can.
Founded in 2004, protoPLAY is a transdisciplinary art group focusing on collaborative approaches and experimentation on creativity processes. protoPLAY is a platform to develop work we could not or would not do individually and to investigate and develop shared practices into a collective process. We have been developing collaborative strategies for best developing and displaying transdisciplinary and process led work, exploring the concepts of evolutive displays, cultural recycling and dissolution of authorship. protoPLAY stress the process over a particular end result, during which raw creative energy is unleashed by and framed within the art event.
protoPLAY doesn’t make videos, installations, paintings, photography, music, Sound Art, sculptures, textiles, dance, nor Performance Art. protoPLAY makes ART.
